Pub serves up a double success

A North Yorkshire destination pub is celebrating with “doubles all round” after scooping two accolades in quick succession.

Double driving force ... Graham Usher and Martin Firth.
After being named as one of the county's best pubs, The Drovers Arms, in Skipwith, near Selby, has been honoured with the TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence.

Graham Usher and Martin Firth bought the pub in 2014, and since then have turned it into a must-visit destination for both foodies, real ale fanatics and the avid gin drinker.

In achieving its top 30 pub ranking, the Drovers appears in Welcome to Yorkshire’s 2016 Ale Trail. The Certificate of Excellence recognises the quality, quantity and recency of reviews submitted by travellers on TripAdvisor over a year.

To qualify, a business must maintain an overall bubble rating of at least four out of five, have a minimum number of reviews and must have been listed on TripAdvisor for at least 12 months.

Heather Leisman, vice president of Industry Marketing, TripAdvisor, said: "With the Certificate of Excellence, TripAdvisor honours hospitality businesses that have consistently received strong praise and ratings from travellers.

“Just ten per cent of business across the world are achieving the Tripadvisor Award by constantly achieve outstanding reviews on its website. This recognition helps travellers identify and book properties that regularly deliver great service.”

HARD WON
Graham said: “We are delighted to again be on TripAdvisor’s international map and Welcome to Yorkshire’s 2016 Ale Trail.

“Reputations are hard won and easily lost, and we work extremely hard to ensure The Drovers continues to offer great food, great beer and great service.

“We have a superb team – both front and back of house – and they work extremely hard creating and delivering a first class experience day in, day out. They, and us, are very proud of our achievements.”
