Souper success story earns a place at prestigious food awards

Soup producer Yorkshire Provender has been named as an SME brand of the year finalist in the Grocer Gold Awards.

The firm recently increased production capacity with a new factory and headquarters in Leeming Bar, creating 30 more jobs.

The £2.9m production investment is as a result of Yorkshire Provender’s continued success in establishing itself as the UK’s leading premium chilled soup brand.  Retail sales reached £10m in 2015, and grew by 30 per cent.

The family behind the success story attributes the growth to staying true to strategy as a brand with genuine provenance, Terry and Belinda Williams are passionate about making the most delicious soup at a reasonable price and sharing their passion for great food.

Yorkshire Provender’s new Journeys in Flavour, Thai Green Chicken Noodle Soup and Indian Spiced Vegetable Soup, are two new products in what promises to be a busy portfolio for the Yorkshire brand.

MD Belinda said: “We are delighted to be finalists in these awards. At Yorkshire Provender, our mission is to meet the needs of discerning consumers by continuing to offer more delicious soups than anyone else.  Our products are naturally healthy – gluten free and skinny – we never add sugar as other soup manufacturers do.”

This year's awards ceremony is held on Tuesday 14 June, 2016 at the Guildhall, London.
