Hotel checks with another accolade

The guests of York's Best Western Monkbar hotel have helped it secure a certificate of excellence with global travel website TripAdvisor.

Guest reviews bring great news ... Monkbar general manager Graham Usher
and sales manager Nikki Brannan
It's the latest accolade since completing a recent £3m upgrade. To qualify, a business must maintain an overall TripAdvisor bubble rating of at least four out of five, have a minimum number of reviews and must have been listed on TripAdvisor for at least 12 months.

Heather Leisman, of TripAdvisor, said: "With the certificate of excellence, TripAdvisor honours hospitality businesses that have consistently received strong praise and ratings from travelers."

Monkbar general manager Graham Usher said: “The TripAdvisor certificate of excellence is the latest in a long list of accolades presented to the Monkbar over recent months. The customer experience is our number one priority, and this demonstrates that we are certainly on the right path.

“It’s also a great testament to the hard work and dedication of the team hear – both front and back of house.”

He added: “At the beginning of the year we had our star rating upgraded from three to four and only last month we were presented with the ‘CaskMarque’, for the way our bar staff carefully look after the real ale.

“We have been shortlisted in the Visit York Tourism Awards in the category for best h0otel, and last June we retained our prestigious green business tourism award.”
