Farmers urged to harvest educational benefits of Open Sunday

North Yorkshire's farmers and landowners are invited to get involved in Open Farm Sunday on 5 June,

The Country Land and Business Association is encouraging its members to take part in the day, which gives adults and children a better understanding of the countryside and how food is produced.

Regional director Dorothy Fairburn said: “Open Farm Sunday is a great opportunity for farmers to connect with the public, share their story and showcase British farming and food.

“The thought of setting up an event can be very daunting for a busy farmer but that needn’t be the case. A small guided walk for local families is fairly simple to plan and much better than doing nothing at all.”

Organising charity, Linking Environment And Farming (LEAF), has pulled together a range of free information and support for host farmers taking part. There are resources available for farmers to promote their event, plus posters, activities and giveaways for the day itself.
