Make a beeline for Kilnsey Park, honey!

There’s a buzz about Wharfedale as Kilnsey Park Estate prepares to host its annual Life is Sweet event about the world of bees on Saturday (30 April).

There will be talks on beekeeping, how honey is made, its uses, as well as face-painting, crafts and wildflower planting. Children will also get the opportunity to dress up as bees to visit flowers to collect their own 'pollen.’

Estate manager Jamie Roberts, said: “This is a really fun family event. Bee numbers everywhere are in decline and we’re so keen to spread the word about why these incredible insects help to make the world go round.

“As well as bee keeping demonstrations, and our own bees here at Kilnsey to see in the hive, we’ll be encouraging children to think about how they can help bees and garden wild-life by planting a bee-friendly seed to take home and grow.”

After the fun activities at the park, people can make a bee-line for the café for honey treats such as honey milkshakes or locally-made honeycomb ice cream.
