Growing group is just the business for promoting Helmsley

Fresh faces and fresh ideas are helping a business group promote one of North Yorkshire's gem towns.

Local businesses are stepping up their efforts to ensure
Helmsley remains a must-visit town.
An extra 12 names have pushed Helmsley in Business membership to 57 in the run up to the annual general meeting next Tuesday (19 April).  It was launched four years ago with just two businesses..

The group aims to ensure the Ryedale town remains busy and vibrant. Last year, it led the town to victory in the Great British High Street Awards, winning the best market town category. Other achievements in the past 12 months include the launch of the new website as well as improved Christmas lights.

The annual meeting takes place at the National Centre for Birds of Prey at Duncombe Park. As well as discussing activities and ideas, new committee members will be elected, and there will be opportunities for networking. There will also be a birds of prey flying demonstration.

Christine Garnett, secretary of Helmsley in Business and co-owner of Hunters of Helmsley, said: “We’re delighted to have welcomed so many new members in the last year, it’s always fantastic to have fresh ideas and new faces.

"2015 was quite a year with lots achieved and lots of fond memories – it’s going to be quite some act to top it this year."
