Dales photo contest clicks off

What's your favourite view of the Dales? That's the question as a conservation charity launches a new photography competition to find images that showcase the landscape, wildlife and communities of the area throughout the seasons.

The Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust has teamed up with holiday cottage specialist Yorkshire Cottages for the fourth year running to find photographs that celebrate the beauty and character of the area.

The winning photographer will receive a hamper of local produce, while the runner-up will scoop tickets to a top Dales attraction.

Professional local photographer and trust supporter Steve Finch will judge the contest. He said: “The Yorkshire Dales has provided inspiration for my own photography for many years. I never tire of this fantastic landscape, and I'm looking forward to seeing other peoples’ favourite views through the competition."

The trust will also use the competition to select favourite images for its 2017 charity calendar which goes on sale from August with money raised supporting its work sustaining the local landscape, environment and communities.

Photos can be submitted via  the trust's Facebook page facebook.com/ydmt.news

The competition closes at midnight on 16 May 2016.
