National park club teaches families how to look after habitats

The North York Moors National Park’s Explorer Club gets under way again in May and families with young children are being urged to get learn about the area's habitats and how to care for them. The club meets one Saturday or Sunday a month for six months.

Getting the habitat habit ... the national park's
Explorer Club offers a range of activities.
Park staff are holding an information day for families to find out more about the club from 2.30pm – 4.30pm on Sunday 24 April at the national park's Danby centre. Current members will talk about their experience. There will also be an opportunity to take part in activities such as stile building and creating natural works of art.

Derek Benn and his family are members. He said “The days are really well organised, safe and well led."
