Car park ticket boost for Rydale visitors

A new transferable pay and display car park ticket has been launched to make it easier to explore Ryedale's market towns.

Residents and visitors can now buy a ticket in any long stay pay and display car park, which can be used between all long stay car parks in the district. The ticket needs to be displayed as usual in the vehicle window.

The aim is to promote the market towns of Helmsley, Kirkbymoorside,  Malton, Norton and Pickering, encouraging longer stays and greater spend in local shops and services. The ticket costs £5.80.

Councillor Will Oxley, a member of  Ryedale Tourism Advisory Board, said: "There is so much on offer in each of the market towns.

"This ticket will provide  extra value and improve ease of use for both local people  and visitors that want to have a great day out. A morning at a food event in Malton, then moving onto an afternoon browsing for antiques in Helmsley, Kirkbymoorside or Pickering,  for example."

Information about the scheme will be promoted at the ticket machines.

More than four million day trips are made to the district each year.
