Teambuilding takes root in the Dales

Best foot forward ... a day in Burnsall with TeamWalking.
Businesses are leaving something valuable after their Dales teambuilding events – a new native tree.

Outdoor adventure specialist TeamWalking dedicates a new tree for every business that books a team building walking activity in the area. This supports the work of Clapham-based charity Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust in its work to restore native broadleaf woodlands in the area.

The two organisations mark ten years working together this year, during which time more than 50 trees have been planted on behalf of business clients as part of the scheme.

TeamWalking owner Mark Reid said: “The Yorkshire Dales are a fantastic place to bring our corporate clients as the landscapes are truly inspirational, and offer a completely different environment for people to spend time with their colleagues away from the distractions of the office."

TeamWalking offers a range of walking activities designed to boost staff moral and improve team working and communication skills, from orienteering to the challenging Yorkshire Three Peaks.

The scheme supports the Dales Woodland Restoration Programme, which is delivered and funded by a partnership including Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust, Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority and the Forestry Commission. The programme aims to double the amount of broadleaf woodland in the Dales by 2020.
