Key names expected at UK's biggest tourism conference

York's Barbican is set to host the biggest tourism conference in the UK next month.

Welcome to Yorkshire, the region's official tourism body, will host the annual Y16 event where new campaigns, initiatives and projects will be unveiled on Wednesday March 23.

The announcements are being kept under wraps but organisers say some special guests are likely to be announced shortly.

Around 1,000 people are set to attend the event which will run like a live TV show and is hosted by national sports presenter Rob Walker.

Previous Y conferences have welcomed a range of famous faces from Last Tango in Halifax Star Dean Andrews to Paralympic superstar Hannah Cockroft MBE – and the Deputy Prime Minister.

Welcome to Yorkshire chief executive Sir Gary Verity said: “This is a not-to-be-missed chance to get businesses across Yorkshire together to showcase what’s planned for the year ahead and make no mistake, it’s going to be another exciting year!

“Y16 promises to inspire and entertain and bring the great and good of Yorkshire tourism together to make things happen!”

Doors open 10am. Further details:
