Call to join in Royal celebrations

Ripon Cathedral will be the venue for a celebration of the Queen's 90th birthday and its organiser, North Yorkshire's Lord Lieutenant Barry Dodd, wants it to be as inclusive as possible.

Around a thousand invited guests will attend the event on Sunday 12 June and the lieutenant's office is calling on communities to help identity the special group of people who should be there.

People whose date of birth is either 21 April 1926 or 12 June 1926 – the  dates of the Queen's official and actual birthdays – can apply for a free ticket and for someone to accompany them. Anyone with birthdays on these dates will be guaranteed an invitation to this prestigious celebration.

A draw will be held for anyone with a 90th birthday on other dates this year. Further details: www.nyll.org.uk/iam90thisyear.
