Richmondshire Museum is embarking on a project to make its collection records available for on-line searching by the public, thanks to a cash grant from the district council.

Family and local historians will be able to access many thousand records to see if the museum holds photos, documents or artefacts which can help in their searches.

Michael Fraser-Brown, a local archaeology student, has started transferring the Roman and Anglo-Saxon collections records into electronic format during his summer work experience with the visitor attraction.

Selected collection items are to be photographed or copied as part of the project.
