Best foot forward ... leader Douglas White leads a Northallerton group.
Coordinator Paul Fisher said: “We realise it is not easy to join a group for the first time, so, we have set up some special short walks across the district to encourage new walkers to join us.
“Walking is very good for managing many health conditions – physical or mental – and these walks will give you a taste of what walking with Hambleton Strollers is all about.”
The short strolls are designed for people who want to take up walking but don’t think they can manage one of the one hour sessions.
The programme is:
- 9 July – starting outside Mayford House Surgery, Northallerton (10.15am)
- 11 July – starting at Thirsk and Sowerby Leisure Centre (10.15am)
- 24 July – starting at Stokesley Health Centre (10am)
- 25 July – starting at Bedale Leisure Centre (10.15am and every Thursday)
The new walk schedule is now available from doctors surgeries, libraries, tourist information centres, leisure centres and the Friarage Hospital - detailing walks between July and September. The details are also available on www.walkingforhealth.org.uk or from Age UK North Yorkshire on 01609 771624.
