Footplate journey aboard heritage railway is heavenly for cathedral Dean

The Dean aboard the Green Knight 75029.
Dean of Ripon Cathedral Keith Jukes fulfilled his childhood dreams with a ride on the footplate of a steam engine at the North Yorkshire Moors Railway.

Staff at the railway visitor attraction contacted him after reading about his ambition in a regional magazine and arranged a two-way trip on the cab of a steam engine between Grosmont and Pickering on-board the engine Green Knight 75029.

Keith, who was accompanied by his wife Susanne, said it had been the experience of a lifetime

He added: "NYMR is one of the best pieces of living heritage anywhere in the North of England and deserves all our support and accolades for the work they do and for the way they support the local economy.”
