Demand forces theatre to put on extra show — and that's gospel

Staff at Scarborough's Stephen Joseph Theatre say the rapid sell out of its evening performance has prompted the need to put on an extra matinee of The Gospel of Matthew on Saturday 30 March.

Award-winning actor George Dillon presents a vision of Jesus in what's described as a highly intense, human and occasionally humorous solo staging of the first Gospel.

Shortlisted for The Stage's best actor award in Edinburgh, Dillon’s performance of his own translation portrays Jesus not as a meek and mild lamb to the slaughter but as a contemporary raging fighter for God.
