Harrogate hotel complex thumbs up

Plans to turn the former bowling alley in Harrogate's Tower Street into a seventy-room hotel development complete with restaurant and exercise centre have been given the go ahead.


Gregory Projects has received council planning and conservation approval for what it describes as "an exciting new mixed use development."

The developer has secured a deal with Travelodge to operate a hotel and restaurant and is finalising a legal agreement with a major gym operator to take the remaining leisure space.

Richard Tovey, of Gregory Projects, said the company could, at last, move ahead and provide facilities that the town needed.

Work is expected to begin in summer and the developer has its sights set on completion in time for next year's Tour de France.
