National park unveils latest art exhibition

The Yoredale offices of the Yorkshire Dales national park at Bainbridge is hosting a series of paintings by artist Shane Green from today (Monday) under the title Feelings, Expressions and Beyond.

The keen hiker and fell runner is the latest local artist to be invited to showcase work in the reception area of the offices. He teaches at Leeds College of Art and has been producing paintings, etchings and sculpture for more than 20 years.

Shane, from Otley, said: “These works represent my personal response to the beauty and majesty of the Yorkshire Dales.

“I have tried to capture the vibrant freshness and powerful physicality of this powerful landscape.

“The paintings express immediacy and quick gestural spontaneity, conveying man’s temporary occupation within the solid, natural structures that sustain their beauty through time and season and the ever changing elements.”

Richard Burnett, the national park authority’s director of corporate services, said: “Shane’s work offers a different take on the dramatic and beautiful countryside in the Yorkshire Dales.

“We hope his exhibition will be an attraction for both visitors and those who come to the offices on business.”

The Yoredale offices are open from 8.30am to 4.30pm Monday to Friday and the exhibition will run until the end of March.
