John joins the Lockwoods team

Ripon restaurant Lockwoods has recruited John Malia as its new head chef.

He joins from The Oak Tree in Helperby where he was head chef for Provenance Inns. His career also includes head chef roles at Malmaison in Leeds and Fodder in Harrogate.

Although originally from Newcastle, John says his Italian roots mean his passion for food is in his blood.

He said: “I’m just really happy to be part of the Lockwoods team and fully committed to help build the great reputation the food already has”.

Matthew Lockwood said “I am delighted to have John on board. He is a great asset and is producing fantastic food with the rest of the team.

"It is so important for us to make sure we are consistently delivering everything our customers want through the food we produce and the service we provide.”

The team says it is bracing itself for a "very busy" festive season with a series of Christmas themed parties and events
