Town's sled-load of Xmas entertainment

Harrogate entertainment bosses say this year's panto will be the centre piece of a strong Christmas offering for the town.

While rehearsals for the 23 November-13 January production Jack and The Beanstalk get under way, the venue is reminding folks that it has also lined up a host of acts from stand-up’s top dogs to musical one-offs and what it describes as "spectacular theatre."

Straight-talking funny woman, Jenny Éclair is at the theatre on Thursday 6 December with her new show, Éclairious.

Stand-out stand-up Greg Davies has sold-out his Royal Hall gig on Thursday 13 December, but the Hyena Club Christmas Cracker at Harrogate Theatre on Saturday 22 December will provide the laughs courtesy of Irish raconteur Brendan Dempsey, natural storyteller Andrew Ryan and energetic gagsmith Kevin Dewsbury.  Scouser Brendan Riley is the night’s host.

Meanwhile, Forces Sweethearts At Christmas at the Royal Hall on Wednesday 22 December is being billed as a tuneful trip down Memory Lane to the 1940s and early 50s bringing the songs made famous by the likes of Vera Lynn, Gracie Fields and Marlene Dietrich..

A Viennese Strauss Christmas Gala brings festive music from The British Philharmonic Concert Orchestra at the Royal Hall on Friday 14 December, and on Friday 21 December, Jake & Elwood’s Christmas Party puts the rhythm and Blues Brothers into the Royal Hall’s offerings.
