But for competition winner Bill Peacock, that's become a reality, after York Brewery launched his beer Peacock’s Pride .
A brew your own beer competition, first run last year, but repeated due to popular demand, was run throughout the small York Brewery estate of pubs. The aim was to engage with customers during the quieter trading periods running up to Christmas.
After an "overwhelming" response, six finalists were chosen and one entry crowned winner by the team of judges at HQ.
Beer fan Bill landed the dream day out at the brewery and, after an early start alongside the brewing team, brewed his very own ale named Peacock’s Pride and blended using Challenger and First Gold hops.
Competition judge and head brewer Nick Webster was impressed with the winner's ideas. He said: “Bill described a pale blonde session ale with hints of orange and coriander which was light, hoppy and very refreshing”
Plans are already in place to run the competition again later this year.
