| The Royal Hall ... soon to be run by Harrogate Theatre. |
Discussions are continuing to ensure agreement in time for approval by town councillors on 9 February.
David Bown, chief executive at Harrogate Theatre, said: “This is a very exciting partnership between the theatre and Harrogate Borough Council to create one of the most thrilling cultural offers in the region, if not the country.
RESPONSIBILITY
"Also, in these difficult times it will contribute to the local economy in a meaningful way. We are mindful of our responsibility to the history of the Theatre and excited at the new emerging artistic programme.”
The news follows the recent announcement that will see the launch of a multi-venue strategy to capitalise on the performance capabilities of the theatre, its studio theatre and the hall under the banner Harrogate Theatres. From February to May, this year, more than 90 performances will take place over the three venues with six world premieres, eight community productions as well as international artists including Edward Fox and Family, The Hallé and Northern Sinfonia.
The new way of working follows Harrogate Theatre’s successful initiative to create a one-stop shop for booking a range of entertainment events at various venues and festivals within the region.
