We have visited LittleBank guest house in Rathmell (close to Settle) on three occasions now. Set in the Yorkshire Dales, the house retains features from the 1600's and is set in a stunning location. Like any first visit you are a little apprehensive, however from the moment we pulled into the drive we knew we had made the right decision. Richard and Trish are superb hosts; friendly, chatty, knowledgeable and will go out of their way to cater for your every need during your stay. The rooms are roomy and tastefully decorated and it certainly deserves it high star rating. It is always a pleasure to return to Littlebank.

The Feversham Arms and Verbena Spa at Helmsley is absolutely stunning. Attention to detail is first class and sat by the outdoor pool recently in glorious sunshine was like being abroad. http://www.fevershamarmshotel.com/

I just enjoyed my first visit to The Royal Parade Apartments in Harrogate, the 3 of these serviced apartments are absolutely stunning. It really is like having a home away from home, except for one thing - they are the essence of pure luxury. There are 3 apartments, each one individually styled. Seriously worth taking a look at the website if you are planning a trip to North Yorkshire. Exquisite is the only word (http://www.royalparade.co.uk/apartment-hotel-harrogate.html)

For comfort and a little luxury, without being ostentatious, try the White Swan at Pickering. We stayed there last year and thoroughly enjoyed the hospitality and the fabulous food. For self catering cottage, you can't beat the Beech Farm Cottages at Wrelton, near Pickering - fully equipped, comfortable, plenty parking, great pool... we have been going there for about 16 years now and delighted to report that the next generation in the shape of our number 1 son is there at the moment!

It's Yew Tree Cottage for us which is located in Westow. A luxury self catering cottage in the perfect location as it's close to York, the North York Moors, Castle Howard and Kirkham Priory. A really tranquil village and the cottage had everything you could imagine from well equipped kitchen, Wood for the fire and even caters for kids. Www.yewtreecottagewestow.co.UK

I have recently been to stay in North Yorkshire, and found a completely idilllic B&B near Ripon to spend my weekend. It was wonderfully tranquil, beautiful rooms and I couldn't have had a better weekend! Definitely recommend it and can't wait to go back up to Yorkshire.

Take a picnic to beautiful (and very quiet) Thruscross reservoir and listen to the cuckoo. Awesome.
